Reconstructing Judaism and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association have joined other religious and civil rights organizations in an amicus brief before a federal district court in Kentucky. The brief urges the court to reject a lawsuit claiming a religious exemption from a county law protecting LGBTQ people from discrimination. Based on our belief in the importance of the separation of church and state, as well as our understanding of Jewish teachings that every human being is created in the divine image, we have long advocated for public policies of inclusion, antidiscrimination, and equality.
